History

The Saginaw County Medical Society Alliance began in 1927 with Charlotte Toshach serving as its first chairman. It quickly became a source of support for the medical profession and its families. It served, even in its earliest years, as a volunteer organization that promoted causes and projects relating to health care.

Through the years the Alliance has changed, diversified, and improved as society has demanded and needed. The projects of the organization have continued to support health education and community health care. In 1950, we began the Charlotte Toshach Memorial Scholarship Fund whose purpose was to help young people who needed financial assistance in pursuing a career in the health care field. Over the years, many students have been helped by the scholarships. We have been involved in outreach programs working with various charities, and holding fundraisers to raise money to help these organizations. The Alliance is also dedicated to welcoming and assisting new medical families to Saginaw, offering our help and friendship and whatever resources are needed to help our new physicians and their families become integrated into the community.
